How Are Hurricanes Named ?

Introduction
Hurricanes are assigned names from a specific list selected by the World Meteorological Organization. Six lists of names have been created for naming Hurricanes that occur in Atlantic. One list is used each year. Each list has names in alphabetical sequence. The first Hurricane of the season is named with A as its starting alphabet; the second hurricane gets a name starting with B; so on and so forth. After six years, the first list begins again. 

Exceptions
No hurricanes are named with the initial letters as Q,U,X,Y and Z.

Proper Names
Hurricanes are named after men and women. Dennis, Florence, Jerry, Gustab, Rebekh and Nadine are some examples of names of hurricanes.

Retired
When an extraordinarily destructive hurricane hits, that hurricane's name as rendered as 'retired' and never used again.

Examples
Allison ,Floyd, Georges, Iris, Katrina, Keith, Lenny and Michelle are some examples of some retired names.
